The appearance of the edit instrument window for both Halion and Note Performer show the correct instrument, but in the case of the Halion window the keyboard at the bottom doesn’t produce any sounds. The only difference I can discern between the loading of either playback templates using the Playback Template command on the Play menu (or on the dropdown menu on the right) is that the windows for either Note Performer or Halion do not appear automatically (these can be viewed, but you have to select the Edit Instrument button under VST instruments on the right-hand side of the page). I’ve tried changing various settings on the left-hand side of the Play window, but no joy with this either.

(I still have Dorico 2 Pro installed, which is working fine, thankfully, even using the new Halion sounds correctly). I’ve tried doing a clean reinstall of Dorico as well as a reinstall of the Halion package, but this had no effect on the problem. Unplugging the keyboard doesn’t remedy the playback issue. In my French-language version the steps to get there with Dorico (3.5.12 1066 dated exactly) running on a Microsoft Surface Pro X ARM64 with Windows 11, v. I only have a basic setup (simple USB keyboard with no built in sounds). My system is Mac Mojave (latest version).

I don’t think I’ve wandered off the path laid out by the instructions I’ve read and watched in my hour-long experience so far and would be grateful for any help with getting sound out of the software. So I’ve upgraded to Dorico 3 Pro from Dorico 2 Pro and am unfortunately having problems with getting any playback sounds either through computer speakers or headphones (This issue affects both Halion and Note Performer sounds ). I searched for no sound, no audio, sound, audio, sound not working, etc.
#Dorico no sound 64 Bit
I’m running Dorico SE 3.5 (to test it out) on a Windows Surface Pro X with 64 bit ARM processor, if that makes any difference. While the currently established programs, coming from music engraving, had to struggle, in their ongoing development, with restrictions and obstacles regarding playback, the Dorico team, having 20 years of experience with engraving as well as playback, could avoid any limitations from the start. I’ve run Dorico completely solo after rebooting, but do still have sound when re-testing with other software, including YouTube of course. I was disappointed when, after his “keep watching” message at about 4:50, he didn’t address what to do in the event that the Halion sounds are present but simply not responding. Dorico 20. Double-click the downloaded ISO disk image. With nearly 1,500 sounds included, arrangements can be played back with exceptional realism and, with no workarounds needed for advanced notation, Dorico produces excellent results much more quickly than has been possible before.

I’ve watched the youtube video (watch?v=5BcPJd92zqU) that seemed promising, especially at about the four minute mark where there was an obvious difference between Anthony’s hitting the virtual keys on the virtual keyboard producing both sound and visual cues where I could only see the keys “moving” with no reaction on the MIDI light or level meter at the top of the window. To make them downloadable, the files have been condensed in an ISO disk image. Thanks to its intelligent design, it automatically adjusts the notation as you write. Beyond that, Dorico Elements supports third-party VST3-compatible virtual instruments and effects and includes a top-end compressor, brickwall limiter, and more. Playing it back produces no sound nor any flickering whether I select HALion Sonic SE or Dorico Beep sounds. Steinberg Dorico Elements includes the Sonic SE 2 library, which gives you first-class instruments that are sure to make your productions sound great. Creating a new piano project, I heard no sound. Clicking on Details shows lists of sounds.

I’m new to Dorico (and Steinberg) and a fairly well-rounded notation software user (MuseScore, Sibelius…and Notator) but am stumped with no sound being produced when simply trying to play back a demo. The library manager shows 8 sound libraries with files sizes and installation dates.
